Hand crafted in Appalachia USA from solid Cherry, a very popular and durable wood for high quality furniture. No veneers or compressed particle boards are used. The wood that is not normally seen (such as for slats) is a different hardwood species.

The photos are of the actual bed in stock showing an error which will be corrected prior to shipping. The customer who ordered this bed did not want the solid slanted headboard option, and the headboard posts were not created exactly right.

The head posts are about 43" tall and are about 6" wide x 1.75" thick. We are waiting for the customer who purchases the bed to select the headboard placement, or floor to top of slats height, before we make the corrections. We can discuss what will be done prior to your purchase.

Please send a note telling us the thickness of mattress you plan to use on the bed, the desired floor to top of mattress height, and / or the floor to top of headboard height. The height of the top of the platform extension off the floor is about 8". So the height of the top of the slats above the floor is about 7". If the bed is too low to the floor for you, we could also make the platform higher at an added cost.

The bed is a platform configuration for a mattress resting on 20 slats spaced about 1.5". The top of the slats is about 1" below the top of the extended platform that is not under the mattress. A center support beam will be under the slats. The beam will have 4 legs to the floor.

The platform extension shown by the photos is made to be about 6" for the sides and foot end.

The width of the bed is about 13" wider that the standard width of your mattress. The bed length is about 9" longer than the standard length of your mattress.

The platform extension is made of 7/8" thick wood with a trim piece at the outer edge that is 1.75" thick that makes the entire extension look like it is 1.75" thick.

Most furniture in high priced stores is made of pressed materials with thin veneers. Such materials are easily damaged and are difficult to repair. They also often give off unhealthy fumes.

The bed is shipped in pieces that lay flat in the box. This enables better protection of the product and lower shipping costs. The assembly based on detailed instructions is performed by the buyer. This design is also helpful for people who move because it permits more compact shipping and storage.
