Hand crafted in Appalachia USA from solid hardwood maple, a very popular and durable wood for high quality furniture. No veneers or compressed particle boards are used. The wood that is not normally seen (such as for slats) is a different hardwood species.

The bed in stock will be equal or similar to the bed pictured. The bed in stock is unfinished, sanded, ready to finish, but the photos show maple with DWD2126 stain.

The list price includes the headboard pictured, which a frame for you to add upholstery. The 9th photo shows the frame detail. Customers usually have a piece of material cut, such as plywood, that will fit inside the back side of the frame. The material is padded and covered with fabric, then attached to the frame with wood screws that do not show on the front side. If you don't want the headboard frame for upholstery and would like the platform bed with no headboard, contact us to discuss this.

The listing price is for unfinished wood ready to finish. You could finish, stain, or paint the bed yourself. To have the bed finished with natural tung oil, the added cost is $80. For $160, you can choose from a wide range of colors of oil based stain in our Wood species and colors section, finished with natural tung oil. Options invoiced separately.

The bed is a platform configuration for use without box springs. Twenty slats are provided: 2.5" wide with space between of about 1.5". This king bed sizes has a center support under the slats shown in the photos 7 & 8. The space between the slats is about 1.5".

Post bottoms are elegantly turned. Posts are about 2.8 x 2.8 inch mid section to about 1.25 inch diameter at bottom, plus adjustable levelers for uneven floors.

The bed is shipped in pieces that lay flat in the box. This enables better protection of the product and lower shipping costs. The assembly based on detailed instructions is performed by the buyer. This design is also helpful for people who move because it permits more compact shipping and storage.
