Hand crafted in Appalachia USA from solid hardwood cherry, a very popular and durable wood for high quality furniture. No veneers or compressed particle boards are used. The wood that is not normally seen (such as for slats) is a different hardwood species. Drawer bottoms are of high quality 1/4" plywood.

The bed in stock may be equal or similar to the bed in the photos. The listing price is for King size bed with 4 drawers on wheels in Cherry wood finished with Tung Oil. The bed in stock has a headboard about 26" taller than the top of the slats. The floor to top of the headboard is about 38".

The bed is a platform configuration for use without box springs. The bed is configured for a mattress resting on slats near the top of the sides. The bed has a center support under the slats that is shown in photo 5. The space between the slats is about 1.5". 20 slats are provided.

The bottom of the sides and ends of the platform frame are about 8.5" above the floor and the edges of the platform frame are about 3.5" thick. So the top of the slats is about 12" above the floor.

The bed length is about 3" longer than your mattress and the width is about 2" wider than your mattress. The length for a king is about 83" the width is about 79".

The drawers glide on wheels that roll on the floor that are shown by the photo of the drawer bottom. The drawers can be moved away from the bed and the space under the bed becomes totally empty except for the two leg beams.

The drawer sides are about 7.3" tall with the inside depth at about 6" and the drawer widths are about 24". The total length of both drawers added together is about half of the mattress width.

I don't recommend using these drawers on a shag or thick carpet. The wheels can get caught with the carpet strings or sink into carpet.

The two leg beams are continuous wood that spans the width of the bed and from the floor to the bottom of the platform. The top view of the leg beam toward the head end is shown by the 5th photo. That photo also shows how open the space is under the bed.

The distance from the back of the head board with stiffener to the opening for the first drawer near the head end is about 15.75". This is enough space for a bedside table made for this space without blocking pulling out the drawer.

Most furniture in high priced stores is made of pressed materials with thin veneers. Such materials are easily damaged and are difficult to repair. They also often give off unhealthy fumes.

The bed is shipped in pieces that lay flat in the box. This enables better protection of the product and lower shipping costs. The assembly based on detailed instructions is performed by the buyer. This design is also helpful for people who move because it permits more compact shipping and storage.
