Hand crafted in Appalachia USA from solid maple, a very popular and durable wood for high quality furniture. No veneers or compressed particle boards are used. The wood that is not normally seen (such as for slats) is a different hardwood species.

The bed in stock is maple finished with tung oil sized for a queen mattress. The third photo is the actual bed in stock but it was taken indoors so we apologize for the quality. The last photo shows the strong attachment structures that are used.

The bed is a platform configuration for use without box springs. This queen bed has a center support under the slats that is not shown in the photos. The space between the slats is about 1.5".

Straight bed posts are standard with taper at bottom to about 1.5x1.5 inches with about 2.8 x 2.8 inch mid section plus adjustable bottoms for uneven floors.

Approximate standard dimensions are:
Height from floor to top of sides = 11"
Height from floor to mattress bottom = 10"
Height from floor to bottom of sides or ends = 5"
Length of queen bed = 86"
Length of outside of bed more than mattress length = 6"
Width of outside of bed more than mattress width = 6"

The bed is shipped in pieces that lay flat in the box. This enables better protection of the product and lower shipping costs. The assembly based on detailed instructions is performed by the buyer. This design is also helpful for people who move because it permits more compact shipping and storage.
