Hand crafted in Appalachia USA from solid hardwood cherry, a very popular and durable wood for high quality furniture.

No veneers or compressed particle boards are used. The wood that is not normally seen (such as for slats) is a different hardwood species. Drawer bottoms are of high quality 1/4" plywood. Some structure inside is 3/4" plywood.

The photos show the bed in stock created from Cherry wood species finished with natural tung oil. The listing price is for 6 drawers that pull out one side and a head to foot storage area that can be accessed from either head or foot end. The width of all of the drawers is the same.

The top of the sides is about 20" above the floor. The bed is a platform configuration for use without box springs. The bed is configured for a mattress resting on slats that are about at the top of the sides. The space between the slats is about 1.5". 20 slats are provided. The Queen size bed has a beam running from end to end under the slats to support them in addition to the support at the ends of the slats.

The width of the bed is about 2" wider than your mattress and the length is about 2" longer than your mattress.

The drawers glide on side mount steel ball bearing slides that pull out 28". The drawer box height vertically for 20" tall bed is about 5.75" upper and 7.75" lower row. The box side to side width for Queen is about 19". The inside of face to back of drawer box will be about 37". The remaining space under the bed will be an open storage space that is accessed from either end of the bed through a door as shown in the photos.

Most furniture in high priced stores is made of pressed materials with thin veneers. Such materials are easily damaged and are difficult to repair. They also often give off unhealthy fumes.

The bed is shipped in pieces that lay flat in the box. This enables better protection of the product and lower shipping costs. The assembly based on detailed instructions is performed by the buyer. This design is also helpful for people who move because it permits more compact shipping and storage.
