This listing is to provide photos of walnut wood to help customers select a wood species. Walnut wood varies significantly even in the same board. Natural walnut is not uniform. What is normally sold as walnut by others is often another wood species that is bleached and then heavily stained to create a uniform appearance. Even walnut wood is bleached by some providers and then heavily stained.
We normally don't add color to walnut wood. A few customers ask for the walnut to be a little darker and for that we can add a dark walnut color. But we don't recommend that. Walnut wood cost is higher than the other wood species I offer because the wood is more rare and people like the natural color of walnut. The higher price is for natural walnut. And our walnut price is much lower than many other providers; look at www.shackeltonthomas.com to see walnut added price of about $3000.
Walnut varies even within the same tree. The walnut you receive will have color variations and grain variations and will have some sap wood.
All of the attached photos are of walnut wood finished with tung oil with no added color. These are the range of appearances of the walnut wood that I provide.
Photos one and two and three show the more common appearance but it is rare that a long board has this appearance along the total board.
The blue tint of photo four is not as common and it is not likely that I can provide it.
Photos 6 and 7 show wood with lighter areas and darker areas and I can provide a look similar to this.
Some of the difference of appearance of these photos is due to different lighting. Other differences are due to the different tree. The walnut I provide is the walnut that I purchase when I create your furniture. I can attempt to choose wood to provide a result that is similar to a photo but it won't be a strong match. Except I can provide similar to photo 6 or not similar to photo 6.
The price of this listing is for creation of two pieces of wood.
If your choice for the second block is not walnut, type a note with your order stating what you want. You can choose a MinWax Wood Finish Oil-Based Penetrating Stain color shown by https://www.minwax.com/wood-products/stains-color-guide/
Type a note with your order stating one or two wood species and the colors on each side of a non-walnut block if you order that. A walnut block is natural wood the same on both sides.
